H=N began as a website that allowed artists to sell to a broad audience while keeping overhead costs low. In a matter of months, it grew into a thriving ecosystem of artists, collectors, and developers. An evolution of this magnitude would not have been possible without Web3 and Tezos technology.
Hic et nunc, commonly referred to as H=N, was developed on the Tezos blockchain to provide artists globally a space to gain exposure for and sell their art without the financial barriers or exorbitant energy consumption of other blockchains.
It quickly evolved into an army of discord communities built around artists who use the liquidity gained from H=N to support their favorite artists and give back to an ecosystem that uplifted them. The true power of decentralization was seen when H=N was shut down without notice.
Joseph Magly, founder of Integro Labs and TezTools, not only provides developer services but is also a collector on H=N himself, a tezos enthusiast, and an active community member in the H=N ecosystem. TezTools was founded with the goal creating sound infrastructure that would be prepared for mainstream adoption.
H=N’s data services have been hosted by TezTools since August of this year. Several mirror sites were created to allow seamless operations for the H=N community.
After the sudden discontinuation of H=N’s site by its founder, TezTools was able to immediately provide alternate sites so that the community could continue to enjoy all that H=N has to offer.
This was made possible because of Web3 technology. Ordinarily, a site would be run by one server that stores the entirety of the data in a singular location. This is not the case for H=N because all the NFTs and smart contracts are stored on the Tezos blockchain.
One site being shut down merely closed one of countless doors for users to access the content created and exchanged on the H=N marketplace. Web3 is a victory for the Tezos community in that it doesn’t allow one individual or entity to control the environment.
The power of decentralization was demonstrated when a community rallied together to keep their ecosystem running despite the actions taken by one person.
The future of the H=N community has a bright outlook. Through the formation of a DAO, or “Decentralized Autonomous Organization”, the ecosystem can be governed by the people who use and interact with the H=N environment.
A DAO has no central authority, is fully autonomous, and completely transparent. Smart contracts execute proposals that are decided on by DAO token holders. H=N is an organic system that allows its users to decide its future without fear of one entity choosing for them.
The abrupt shutdown of the original H=N site is a victory for the Tezos community because it provides an example for other to witness an event unique to Web3 while also demonstrating the many advantages of a decentralized system. A truly historic moment occurred on the Tezos blockchain. The successful formation of a DAO by the community the promises of Web3 will be made evident for all to see.

What started as an open-sourced experiment by creator Rafael Lima became the embodiment of decentralization. Over 500,000 objkts were minted on the H=N marketplace. Its created life-changing opportunities for many of its users.
The death and rebirth of Hic et nunc is cause not for panic and chaos but celebration. H=N is not a domain name, it is community.
TezTools will keep everything running while the site is reincarnated in the vision of its users. A gateway has been opened for Tezos users to show the world how a community can rally and create a new beginning from the ending of and an era.
