Let’s make Tezos great together!

Read that again. Let’s make Tezos great together! Not again, because Tezos was never not great! 

LMTGT is an initiative founded by First Rain, and is all about combining the energies and skills of the community to build things together, making Tezos the place we want it to be. 

But what is LMTGT now exactly?

LMTGT is a group of people that want to actively strive to make Tezos a great place for everyone: blockchain enthusiasts, artists, collectors, developers, meme masters, and everyone in between.

And the best part? Absolutely everyone can join our efforts, no strings attached. In addition to the good ol’ X, we have three platforms where you can keep track of everything we’re doing: Discord, Notion, and Trello. Anyone can join the efforts at any time, and can contribute their own ideas about what we could do next.

LMTGT is not just meant to be a working group, however. It’s also envisioned as a group of skilled and like-minded people, in which you can find help and support for your own project, initiative, or idea. It shall be a place where skill and passion meet the enthusiasm of the entire Tezos community.

We also recognize that nothing would run as smoothly as it does, and that we wouldn’t have so many fun dApps and tools as we do, without our amazing developers. That’s why we want to offer all developers and builders on Tezos (including those who join our lovely chain to build here in the future) a home where they feel seen and valued, a place to connect with one other.

LMTGT was founded when First Rain noticed that many people were expressing dissatisfaction with the current state of things, and voicing frustrations about the officials at the top not focusing on areas they wanted to see thrive, further developed, or supported. She even saw herself joining the chorus of complaints, which didn’t sit well with her, because here’s the thing: the officials can only do so much with the resources and teams they have. It’s simply impossible to be everywhere at once. And, as humans, our priorities and perspectives are subjective, so it’s just natural that their focus might differ from what some of us expect. That said, this year has seen notable improvements in communication and how things are being handled. They are listening, and making efforts to address our wishes as well as they can, while also increasing support for community-driven initiatives.

And for everything else, there is us, the wider Tezos community. Together we can accomplish so much more to make things great for everyone, and to shape Tezos into the chain we envision and desire it to be.

What is LMTGT doing already and what are the plans for the future?
The Discord server for LMTGT, and with it the entire project, was launched six months ago, on June 7th, 2024.

Since then, three ongoing initiatives have been running, Trello and Notion have been set up, and ideas have been collected.
The three ongoing initiatives are:

➢ Monthly fundraising in support of the Teia Fountain, with a total of 80 $XTZ raised and donated.

➢ Monthly highlighting and spreading awareness about the Tezos Commons Community Reward Program, to bring attention to it, and motivate people to nominate deserving individuals.

➢ Participating in This Is A Raid events – initially focused on highlighting the chosen artists, but now also involving collecting from those artists, thanks to the Tezos Commons award we won for September.

In October 2024, we received a TC CRP award, and used the 125 $XTZ prize to give back to the community. The funds were allocated to various initiatives, including donating to the Teia Fountain and Project Thulu, subscribing to creators on Saintz, and participating in This Is a Raid events. These decisions were made collaboratively with the community by creating polls on X, ensuring a true community effort in every area.

Of course, there are many more plans for the future, but let’s take it step by step. Our immediate next step is to create Starter Packs for Tezos, divided into three categories: General, Artist, and Developer. The goal is to offer newcomers to Tezos an easy and approachable entry point without overwhelming them, providing a clear and simple guide on where and how to start. This will apply to people who are completely new to blockchain, as well as those joining from other blockchains.

Let’s make sure they stay and feel welcomed, so they don’t leave again right away!
