Etherlink has launched a new website, enhancing its offering with key features such as an EVM Bridge and Smart Rollup technology. This development, powered by Tezos Smart Rollups, provides an efficient and secure platform for both developers and users.

Key Features of the New Etherlink Platform

One of the main attractions of Etherlink’s updated platform is the EVM Bridge. This feature allows for the smooth deployment of any EVM codebase, facilitating the migration of users and assets from Ethereum and other interoperable chains. This function enables seamless interaction and asset transfers across different networks, further expanding the platform’s usability.

Etherlink’s Smart Rollup technology, an enshrined, optimistic rollup system implemented by Tezos, ensures enhanced scalability and security. The platform remains open and permissionless, with a non-custodial architecture that is resistant to censorship, allowing users to retain full ownership of their assets.

The platform’s future-proof nature is supported by Tezos’ on-chain governance system, which facilitates upgradability through community-driven development.

Developer Experience and Ecosystem

Etherlink offers a comprehensive toolkit for developers, integrating familiar tools such as Metamask, Hardhat, and Foundry. The platform also supports seamless deployment of existing Solidity smart contracts without requiring code rewrites, making it a developer-friendly environment.

Additionally, Etherlink’s ecosystem includes collaborations with industry-leading teams like LayerZero, Subsquid, Thirdweb, Redstone, and Rivo. These collaborations bring additional tools and protocols to the platform, enriching the developer experience.

Wrapped Asset Bridge Now Live

Alongside the new website launch, Etherlink has also introduced the Wrapped Asset Bridge, which is powered by LayerZero Labs. The bridge allows users to transfer wrapped tokens between Etherlink and several other EVM-compatible blockchain networks, including Ethereum, Avalanche C-Chain, Arbitrum One, Optimism, Base, and BNB Chain.

Etherlink provided a step-by-step guide on how to use the new Wrapped Asset Bridge via Twitter on August 7, stating, “You can now bridge from Base and other EVM chains directly onto Etherlink via the new Wrapped Asset Bridge powered by @LayerZero_Labs.”

The guide explains that users should visit the Etherlink bridge website, connect their EVM wallet, and select the source network from which they wish to bridge tokens. It is important to note that as of the time of the announcement, liquidity had not yet been deployed on the bridge, and Etherlink recommended using single-path bridging for seamless transfers.

Users can select the token they want to transfer, view the available tokens and balances, and even set a gas airdrop on the destination chain. After selecting the destination chain and token, the platform shows the amount of tokens the user will receive on the target chain and the associated fees.

To initiate the transfer, users must click “Transfer” and confirm the transaction in their wallet. A popup will appear, allowing users to track the progress of the transaction.

For more detailed information on bridging, Etherlink directs users to its documentation, available on its website at etherlink.com.

Open Beta and Mainnet Updates

Etherlink announced on August 9, 2024, that the Etherlink mainnet is currently in open beta. This phase is primarily focused on onboarding partners and fine-tuning the software stack to ensure a secure and production-ready environment for the official launch. Infrastructure improvements and system adjustments are ongoing, and liquidity deployment remains pending.

The open beta period is crucial for identifying and addressing any potential issues before the official launch, ensuring that the platform is robust and reliable for all users. As the team continues to refine the platform, the community can look forward to a secure and efficient mainnet experience once the official launch takes place.
