Rocket Monsters, in partnership with Kalamint Are going to launch a generative 3D rendered NFT collection of 10,000 bears with different rarity and in-game utility.

An Introduction To Rocket Monsters

Science fiction horror has found a new home on the Tezos. That’s right, the evilest, ruthless, and bloodthirsty space rocket piloting…teddy bears?! are officially staking their claim on the most advanced and agile blockchain ever created.

These crazed, psychotic, and highly agitated bears, also known as Rocket Monsters (RM), have set up shop on Kalamint and they aren’t going anywhere!

In our highly “sensitive” era, when we must be careful about every word we say for fear that someone may take offense, there is something so refreshing about a “no holds barred” project like RM that features blood-soaked teddy bears complete with chainsaws, guns, all sorts of blades (including giant scissors) and bloody claws.

An imaginary full-out heavy metal space horror thrill ride never did any real harm, did it?!

To further blow up all of this loaded-for-bear, top-notch 3D-art space monster mayhem, work is underway to introduce a generative 3D rendered NFT Rocket Monster collection and to create a full-fledged video game based on the incredibly crafted, gorgeously disturbing NFTs which will grant owners unique attributes for in-game play.

At XTZ News, we are dedicated to bringing you the latest and greatest Tezos projects and Rocket Monsters is definitely on that list! I was fortunate to have a virtual meetup with the creator and artistic talent behind Rocket Monsters, Andrew Woodward.

I have to say after learning more about RM, I am ready to crank up the heavy metal and fire up that inner space-teddy-bear-devil-destroyer that has been dormant for years! I hope you are too! Enjoy!

Thanks for taking the time to discuss Rocket Monsters with me! I’m looking forward to playing the game and getting more involved in the RM mayhem! 🙂

Rocket Monsters is such a fresh, fun and brutally unrestrained project. Not to mention a fantastic deployment and top-notch 3D artwork! Of course, I must ask, what was your inspiration for Rocket Monsters?

Thank you for your kind words! My inspiration for Rocket Monsters comes from a lifetime of movies, gaming, and of course art. Movies and games have always been a place where people can get away from the daily grind. It is within these special moments in time that we as humans get to live vicariously.

The Rocket Monsters enable the collectors to embark into the mystery of space, and time. So, when I am creating the next Banshee or Main Character a lot goes into the gamer’s experience.

I want this to be immersive from the creation of the NFT, and throughout the Rocket Monsters game. When I am creating all these characters my imagination runs wild because I look at them from the perspective of the collector.

Why did you choose to create Rocket Monsters on Kalamint and Tezos?

Having been an artist for a long time, I have been on every platform out there long before NFTs. I know the struggle of being an artist and getting your work out there.

It can be exhausting; and there are times when you just want to throw in the towel. When I first started minting NFTs, I started on several platforms using Ethereum, and I found myself with that same feeling of dissatisfaction.

So, truth be told I started the journey of building an NFT marketplace called Space Toast. Through extensive research I fell in love with Tezos and began to mint on Kalamint.

From the very beginning I saw how Kalamint supported their artists and cared about them. Kalamint and the community quickly changed my mind in respect to building a marketplace. It truly was love at first mint, and I haven’t looked back since.

Please tell us what you like most about Tezos.

The possibilities for Tezos are endless, and every single person I have encountered within the Tezos community has been outstanding. For me and the Rocket Monsters there is only one blockchain for us, and that is Tezos.

Tell me a bit about your creative process. Clearly your bears have some horror influences, but I’ve also seen references to weapons and gameplay that we may have seen in mainstream video games such as first-person shooters. Do you have any games that have influenced your creative process when it comes to Rocket Monsters?

Growing up my brothers and I spent countless hours watching horror movies. From Nightmare on Elm Street, Jason Vorhees, Michael Myers and many others. We were also very much in love with our Nintendo!

I grew up in an area that was not known for wealth, life wasn’t always easy, but my parents made sure we were taken care of. Nintendo gave us a way to escape, so we did that with Zelda, Mike Tyson’s Punch Out, and Mario.

As the consoles evolved so did our love for games, and there are some titles that really stand out. Star Fox will always be that game for me, and that inspiration carries on into the RM Universe. Some of the other standout titles for me are Metal Gear Solid, Call of Duty, Resident Evil, and BioShock.

I’ve always enjoyed space horror, I guess because it is a fascinating convergence of horror and science fiction, two of my favorite genres. One of my favorites is Event Horizon but the 10th Friday the 13th sequel Jason X also comes to mind. Are you also a fan? If so, what is your favorite?

Oh man! I have watched Event Horizon countless times – it is on the list of favorites. I would also have to include Riddick, Alien, Solaris, and many more.

You seem to have big plans for Rocket Monsters! Please tell me more about your plans – short, medium and long term.

Currently we are working on our Characters, and the storylines that go with them and though it falls into the short term it is far reaching. We also have our generative project that is a collaboration between RM and Kalamint where we will be dropping 10k generative bears with rarity, and in-game utility.

To add the cherry on top with this project it will be 3D rendered bears and backgrounds. We want this to be the generative project that blows your mind, so we are working hard to make this happen. There are many long term goals, but I would like to tell you about a few of them!

Within the RM Universe we have what we call Star Keys, blackholes and portals can be opened with 10 Star Keys, what this does within the game is it opens entirely new worlds and characters. Some of these will be bad alliances and some of them will be good.

You never know what you’re going to get when opening a blackhole. So, with these characters you will see a whole new level of trading within the game, and that will be done with XTZ being the main currency.

Now I haven’t told many about this long-term goal, but I’ll give you a bit of what’s cooking in my imagination.

In Rocket Monsters you will be able to be a part of a Bear Outpost, these Bear Outposts will have rivalries as this happens in a space/horror environment.

Ideally what I’d like to see is full on Bear Brawls in between Bear outposts, to add to the excitement I would like to see these streamed as live events. Do you have your ticket to the Bear Brawl?

That sounds awesome! Thanks for taking the time to discuss Rocket Monsters with me! I’m looking forward to playing the game and getting more involved in the RM mayhem! 🙂

Thank you so much for reaching out, and giving us an opportunity to tell a bit more about the story of RM. We truly adore our collectors and those who follow us. We also greatly appreciate XTZ News and what you do for our community.
