Electis is a fully anonymous and encrypted e-voting system, which utilizes the Tezos blockchain.
Electis has been tested and later adopted, in 80 universities including Kings College London, Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, and Ritsumeikan University in Japan.
“The Electis.app e-voting solution meets the requirements of trust and usability for local governments, organizations, and non-profits across the globe. Powering the Electis.app are the Tezos blockchain and open-source SDK ElectionGuard.
The results of e-voting elections on the Electis.app are, for the first time, immutably recorded through a smart-contract on the Tezos blockchain, a decentralized, public blockchain that evolves by upgrading itself through on-chain governance, adding a further level of transparency and security to e-voting systems.”
So far, Electis has been used by over 20,000 voters since its launch.
Trial by French authorities
In October 2021, French authorities in Hauts-de-Seine, one of the suburbs of Paris, started a trial in which they chose Electis for an e-voting program that intends to scale up towards local elections over time.
The application of blockchain technology by official authorities in democratic processes and real live events is seen as a huge victory and validation for Electis and the Tezos blockchain in particular.
United Nations
In recent news, Electis announced the three organizations of the United Nations are using their voting application.
