ChainBorn Version 2
ChainBorn v2 is a major update to the gameplay and incentives of ChainBorn.
“It includes a bunch of new features that we think will excite users and improve the game significantly.”
The Store
A big new feature for v2 is the store. You can now purchase different items & potions to equip your Hero for battle.
Items
Items are things like armor, weapons and potions that you can equip on your Hero in order to increase the Health and Strength of your Hero.
Potions can be used in battle to heal your Hero during a fight. For now you have; head, body, hands and potionbelt to equip.
After purchasing some items you can equip them on a Hero using the new Items tab and drag & drop items to equip them (tap on mobile).
We are super excited about items, and will expand with new item types, unique items, spells and more as we gear up for v3.
Skins
If you really want to pimp your Hero, you can get a skin.
A skin is a new card design that will make your Hero card look fantastic. You can set a skin for your Hero vi and Skins tab.
Heroes
Another super cool thing about the Store is that you can sell & purchase Heroes.
So, if you have built a super cool and strong Hero, you can sell it in the store.
And the same, if you want to get a quick-start into ChainBorn you can purchase a strong Hero from the store instead of summoning a bare one.
NB. When you sell or purchase a Hero in ChainBorn, you sell/get the Hero, it’s attached NFT and all equipped items or skin on that Hero.
Marketplace
That brings us to another important aspect of the Store. It’s also a marketplace for users.
You can list both items, skins and Heroes in the Store. This lays the foundation for an in-game economy for ChainBorn.
Items are NFTs
Each item & skin in the store is (of course) its own FA2 NFT on Tezos. So you are free to sell or transfer them outside the ChainBorn Store too.
Lord Emperors Gold $LEG
The Store currency is called $LEG which is short for Lord Emperors Gold.
We use the Ł character as shorthand for $LEG. In the top right of the Store you can see your Ł balance. By tapping this icon you get to a modal with links to purchase or sell your $LEG.
We decided to add our own currency mostly since we needed a reward system for our players. If you hold a ChainBorn membership card from Altme, you can already claim some $LRG rewards every 7 days.
The Store – For Artists
The ChainBorn team are super keen on getting more cool items into the store. For that they are hoping artists and collection creators are interested in creating some awesome skins and items.
We support both an initial split of the purchase amount and royalties for secondary trading.
So once v2 is launched and the ChainBorn economy starts growing we are hoping it will be interesting and profitable for artists to create items for ChainBorn.
That is the ChainBorn Store, and we are super excited to launch it soon.
Tournaments
One of the most exciting new features of ChainBorn v2 are Tournaments.
Tournaments are just what they sound like. A bunch of Heroes sign up for a tournament, and the system creates battles for each round until there is a final winner.
In ChainBorn tournaments its winner takes it all, so possibilities for making some big bucks here are def. present.
The ChainBorn team are super keen to see what people will use tournaments for.
It can be just for fun, winnings or even for some promotion? If you have some competition or raffle to run, why not use a ChainBorn tournament to select the winner?
Even though tournaments can be a super fun and social experience, be aware that battles in ChainBorn are still async – meaning users must allow time for people to take they turn in a battle.
Stuff might happen IRL that they need to deal with and ChainBorn don’t want them to loose their battle because of this. So the 24h timeout is still in effect also for tournament battles.
Still, ChainBorn hope to see twitter spaces and twitch streams of interactive battles – just get everyone coordinated before you start.
Badge battles
In the soon to be released ChainBorn v2 the team are introducing a new concept; Badge Battles.
Badge Battles are in essence sponsored battle rounds. A sponsor can put up some amount of XTZ that will be distributed among players making the most achievements in the lasting period of the Badge Battle (1 month as an example).
Players compete on these achievements during the period; Most XP, Most Loot, Most Wins and Longest Streak. At the end of the Badge Battle period, the wins will be distributed according to the specified distribution (see above image for example).
Sponsors get their logo and description displayed on the Badge Battle page. In addition, during the badge battle period, each battle page will display a smaller logo with a link to the sponsor’s project.
We are super excited for this new feature and hope it will bring more incentives to play ChainBorn with this option to earn income from the game.
We are also very excited to be able to share information about some of our wonderful partners and other sponsors to spread the word about other dapps in the Tezos ecosystem to our players.
Loot boxes
In ChainBorn lore there is a race of priests called the “Chain Ministry”. These are automated players in CB. If you battle one of these in v2, there is a 50% chance they will drop some loot for you to pick up (Items or $LEG).
Reduced costs
ChainBorn are also reducing the cost associated with playing the game. Cost for summoning a Hero is reduced from 10 XTZ to 5 XTZ. The minimum loot to battle has been reduced from 3 XTZ to 1 XTZ. These costs might be adjusted over time.
