To celebrate the return of Capital’s Summertime Ball with Barclaycard after three-years, Global, in partnership with green NFT platform OneOf, today announced their first-ever NFT. The NFTs will be using the Tezos blockchain.
Global is owner of the largest commercial radio company in Europe and it runs the UK’s number one hit music station ‘Capital’. As of June 2018, the stations served a combined weekly audience of 7.4 million listeners.
It will mark the first time a UK radio brand has released a digital collectible and comes ahead of the return of Capital’s Summertime Ball with Barclaycard, the UK’s biggest summer party at London’s iconic Wembley Stadium on Sunday June 12th.
The Digital Collectibles offer music fans unique memorabilia of the live event, a digital lanyard featuring the official line-up of the hottest hit music stars performing at the Ball.
These include Ed Sheeran, Harry Styles, David Guetta, Aitch, Jax Jones, Mabel, Joel Corry, Mimi Webb, Tate McRae, Lauren Spencer-Smith, A1 x J1, KSI, Anne-Marie, George Ezra, Becky Hill, Sigala, GAYLE, ArrDee and Eddie Benjamin, who will play in front of a crowd of 80,000 Capital listeners.
Cilesta Van Doorn, Chief Marketing Officer at Global, said:
“Collecting venue ticket stubs and programmes is very much part of the music fan experience when you’re at a live event, so we are thrilled to be able to move the fan experience into the metaverse by creating digital memorabilia.
And as millions of people watch along on social media and Global Player’s live stream, they can also now join in the full experience by owning unique memorabilia for the first time.
The NFT digital lanyard is the perfect way to capture the full event experience, making it accessible to all.”
Mark Lyn, OneOf VP of Special Projects added:
“OneOf is excited about being Global UK’s launch partner for Capital to be the first radio brand in the UK to release an NFT.
Enabling Capital’s listeners an easy platform to onboard into web3 and buy their first NFT without the need of a cryptocurrency wallet is core to our mission of onboarding 100 million new people into NFTs.”
The Limited Edition NFTs drop today (Thursday 9 June), with prices starting from as little as £10 – visit capitalfm.com for full details.
Capital’s Summertime Ball with Barclaycard will be streamed live on Global Player and live on TikTok from 2pm.

Etherlink, the Tezos blockchain’s latest Layer 2 solution, is set to redefine the landscape of decentralized applications (DApps) with its upcoming mainnet launch in March 2024. This EVM-compatible, optimistic rollup distinguishes itself from other external Layer 2 platforms like Arbitrum, Optimism, and Polygon, due to its unique enshrinement within the Tezos blockchain.
Starting on December 6 with an exhibition, panels and performances at the Nautilus Hotel, curatorial platforms, partners and marketplaces from around the world will co-curate contemporary digital art minted on Tezos. Over 50 works will be shown, ranging from historical pieces to contemporary editions sold during the event, with a portion of the proceeds going to the Trevor Project, an American nonprofit organisation raising funds for suicide prevention amongst LGBTQ+ youth.
The Tezos Foundation announces its support for the Vigicard project, the first mobile application improving the monitoring of patients subject to drug allergies. Based on Tezos blockchain technology, the application was co-developed by a team of Europe-renowned allergists from Montpellier University Hospital, and Web3 experts Codinsight.
