Decathlon Use Tezos To Add An NFT Experience To The Séan Garnier Street Football Boots Product
Decathlon has partnered with Nomadic Labs in order to utilize the Tezos blockchain to add an NFT experience to the new Séan Garnier street football boots product line.
This marks the first time the French retail giant has used blockchain technology in relation to its products.

Tezos Technology Used In The Decathlon X Séan Garnier Street Football Boots
Now, it has been announced that Tezos technology has been used in the Decathlon X Séan Garnier Street Football Boots product line in order to provide an NFT experience.
The collaboration has been done with the help and support of Nomadic Labs.
The football boots come with an attached NFT ‘Golden Ticket’ which is said to: ‘give access to new personalized and exclusive experiences with the world champion… a golden ticket that extends the experience!’
On the Golden Ticket NFT experience Decathlon stated:
‘This is the first step in building a future where digital goods are connected to physical goods.’
This suggests that more utilization of Tezos blockchain technology will accompany Decathlon products in the future.
The boots have been made by Kipsta the football brand of Decathlon and have been inspired by street football players including members of the S3 Freestyle Team Andréas Cetkovic, Soufiane Bencock, Moss, Traffy and Cris.
In an Instagram post Séan Garnier announced the incoming drop and collaboration with Decathlon which attracted over 12,000 likes.
Purchasers of the boots have until the 18th of June 2022 to claim their attached NFT that comes with the product.
On the announcement, Hadrien Zerah of Nomadic Labs stated:
“Decathlon one of the favorite companies of the French people. We are happy to see they are deploying their 1st NFT on Tezos, which hopefully will lead to others. And who better than a freestyle soccer world champion to symbolize this project?”
“For Decathlon, the Barrio project by Kipsta is the first step into the world of Blockchain and NFTs. We hope that this collaboration with Séan Garnier will lead to many others and we can’t wait for the public to adopt this new pair ”
Kipsta Barrio shoes are available on Decathlon’s website in select countries, including France today at 11 a.m. local time.
